All you need is love

Hello everyone! I am here with a fun Torendi project! I used the Jillibean Soup corrugated cardboard letters from August's kit. This kit is sold out, but there is so much fabulous new stuff at Torendi! You have to check out the cool import stuff!
I painted them with my Claudine Hellmuth paints. It was so much fun to mix my own colors and paint and play! I loved it! Also, for some reason, I could not photograph my colors well today! The colors are more muted and less primary in real life :).

The reason I decided to make something like this is because of all these new prints that are popular. I thought I might be able to make my own! Now all I need is the perfect frame! I tried to look for one and stuck out, so I thought I would share it pre-frame! I left paper all around it so that I could cut the paper depending on the frame I bought!

Thanks for coming by today! Oh, also! Have you checked out the little mini challenge we have going at the Lawn Fawn Facebook page? Go check it out for a chance to win! :)

Happy Birthday to Laura!

Happy Birthday to you, Laura! I hope you are having a fabulous day and enjoying your birthday blog hop! Feliz cumpleanos, chica!

I used my Studio Calico "Summer Camp" kit to make this card. I am in love with these So Sophie My Mind's Eye papers. I stamped a banner from Bannerific on a Basic Grey Basics patterned paper and cut it out. I adhered Thickers to the banner for a different look. I also made the butterfly center with my tiny attacher. I see myself doing this a lot more! I love it! I also hadn't made a shaped card in a long time. I want to make more!

Happy Birthday, again, Laura! :) To continue on your hop, please visit Regina. Thank you for being so sweet and for running 2 Sketches 4 You so fabulously with Kazan. You are amazing! Have a fantastic day!

To non-Laura people :) you should follow along in the hop and say Happy Birthday to Laura, too! Here is the list! :)

Happy First Day of School + A Video! :)

Store update: Bannerific, Sophie's Sentiments and Heebie Jeebies are back in stock! Make sure to check it out! http://www.lawnfawn.com

Hello! Today I have a card and a video! Woo! I decided to participate in two challenges:

* The Embellish challenge - Lawn Fawn is sponsoring and there is a $25 gift certificate up for grabs!
* The Everything but the Kitchen Sink challenge - I made up the sketch this month and there is a great Love My Tapes prize!

I had so much fun making this card with Critters in the Sea and Harold's ABCs! One layer cards are so fun, and who doesn't love masking? :)

Here is my video! You can watch here or at You Tube.

Also, I was asked this question the other day by Christiana:

When you go to make a card, do you draw out a sketch first (and if you do, do you find supplies that inspire a sketch or do you draw a sketch and then try to find supplies that work?) or do you just go for it and see what happens?

I just go for it. There is usually no plan. The only time there is a plan is when I am participating in a challenge or when I get a new goodie that I just have to use! I just sit down and whatever is closest, I use! I kind of wish I did the sketch thing because it would be nice to plan ahead, but that just doesn't work for me!
How do you make your cards? Are you a planner or a whatever happens happens kind of crafter? I would love to hear! :)

I hope you guys are all doing well! Hugs!

Bilo Celebrates Eighty!

Woah. A layout! I have been getting the scrapbooking bug lately, and then I signed up for Kelly Purkey's Sketchbook class, now mind you, I am 3 weeks behind, but I am trying! The sketches are so fun and the samples are amazing! So inspiring! This is my sample for sketch #1. This is when we celebrated my Grandfather's (I call him Bilo) 80th birthday. He had so much fun blowing out the candles!
I absolutely LOVE journaling with Harold's ABCs. It is so easy! And there is just something therapeutic about lining up the letters. Let me know if you have journaled on a layout with Harold's ABCs. I would love to see it! I stamped here with dye ink because I wanted the texture of the paper to show through. I think it looks so cool!

I love the look of pleated paper. Since I am not the best with a sewing machine (read: I've almost sewn through my hand on more than one occasion), I actually put adhesive down first to pleat the paper and the stitching was just for show. The clouds are from Buzz and Bloom and I believe that almost all of this page is from a Studio Calico kit, I just can't remember which one! But, oh, how I love SC!
Card stock: American Crafts
Patterned paper:
October Afternoon, Pebbles, My Mind's Eye, Studio Calico
Stamps: Lawn Fawn (Harold's ABCs)
Ink: Stampin' Up! (close to cocoa)
Etc: Buzz and Bloom denim clouds, American Crafts Thickers, Jenni Bowlin Bingo Card, Sewing machine, Circle punch

2 sketches 4 you 59: wedding wishes

Hello! Welcome to another 2 Sketches 4 You challenge! This week we have a gorgeous sketch and a fabulous prize: a 2S4Y guest DT spot! How cool is that? Today I made a card completely out of my normal element! I got the Basic Grey Curio line, and it is SO gorgeous! I was going to layer paper to create the off centered rectangle on the sketch, when I saw this paper that was already like that! I just had to use it!

Check out Laura's fabulous sketch:
I just love it!

Here is a close up on my chipboard piece. I used my GCD Melody Ross chip art tools and my Claudine Helmuth paints to make this. It is so much fun to hammer those metal stamps into the chipboard. I think I like it too much. Haha! I painted the chipboard a tealish color, dried it, then covered the piece in a brown/glossy medium mix and then wiped it away for this antiquey look. I added black ink to the edges with a cat's eye ink pad and then adhered the pearls. Seriously fun! The sentiment is from Sophie's Sentiments. I have a few weddings coming up to go to, so this will be perfect!

So come along and play with us at 2 Sketches 4 You! We can't wait to see your creations!

Card stock: Neenah
Patterned paper:
Basic Grey (curio)
Stamps: Lawn Fawn (sophie's sentiments)
Ink: ColorBox (black), Papertrey Ink (true black)

Stamp It! Paper Crafts Magazine Call! + q&a + flashback

Did you guys see that the Stamp It! Magazine publication call was extended until August 30th?! Woo!

This call is absolutely perfect for stampers, and that means you! I really want to encourage you all to submit. It is just so much fun!

Click here for all of the info on the call. (You can always email me with questions on how to submit, too!)

Some people have expressed concern on possibly having to send in their stamps, and I totally get this! The idea of being without my stamps is painful! So, if you get a card accepted with Lawn Fawn we will send you a set to send in, so that you will not be without your stamps! I hope that makes you guys happy! I can't wait to hear about your submissions!

The other thing today is that, as some of you may have seen, I had to shut down my formspring due to inappropriate questions. (Creepy!) Someone on there suggested that I do a post for people to ask questions, so I thought I would do that here! Just leave a comment with a question, if you would like. It can even be anonymous as long as you keep it creepy free!

The last thing I have today is a fun challenge by Amy! She thought it would be fun to re-post the first thing we ever posted to our blogs! Well, my first things were these weird collages with 20 cards in them, so I found the first individual thing I posted, which was just a few days later. Here it is! It was really fun to look back! Thanks, Amy!
Have a great day everyone! And have fun submitting!

Thank you so much for visiting!
Have an amazing day,
